

Mary Ellen Rosier n`ee Foster, born in Waurika, Oklahoma on February 11, 1932 passed away peacefully on December 12, 2013 at her home in Oklahoma City. The sixth child and youngest daughter of Robert Lee Foster and Sula Josephene Bigham, she was affectionately known by all as “Sissy”. She grew up in Waurika and was a 1950 graduate of Waurika High School. She married Dr. Harold A. Rosier on June 15, 1951 and their marriage of 26 years was blessed with three children, Roy Bruce, Tara Lee and Sheri Denise Rosier. Mary was a long time member of the Waurika First United Methodist Church where she served as the Superintendent of Sunday School for almost 20 years. Her life during these happy years was given to the making of her home and the care of her family. She was actively involved in town life especially with her children’s many school and sports activities. After the death of Dr. Rosier in September 1977, Mary met William Mack Usher in the fall of 1979. They were married in February 1981 and made their home in Stillwater, Oklahoma. There they enjoyed 18 years of one another’s company, both very much a part of campus life at Oklahoma State University where Mack served as Director of Institutional Research. After Mack’s passing in December 1999, Mary remained in Stillwater until 2003, when she made her last move to Oklahoma City. Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Drs. Bruce and Frances Rosier of Oklahoma City, daughter and son-in-law Tara and Kimo Gonyea of Prosper Texas, step-daughter Louise M. Weaver (Darlie) of Pawnee Oklahoma, step-son Harold A Rosier Jr. (Buddy) of Duncan, Oklahoma, her grandchildren Phillip Rosier, Peter Rosier, Karissa Gonyea and Anjalee Gonyea. Mary is also survived by two brothers Robert and C.E. (Cotton) Foster, a large extended family of nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat “Sarge”, the last of a long line of feline companions. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Robert Lee and Sula Josephene Foster, her brothers C.D. and James E. Foster, her sister Jesse Lee Graves, her husband Dr. Harold Rosier and daughter Sheri Rosier and her husband of the second marriage William Mack Usher. Mary will be remembered for her quiet and soft-spoken ways, her sense of humor, her love of animals especially her cats, and her devotion to her family and friends. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4th, 2014, 2pm at the Waurika First United Methodist Church, 438 E D Ave, Waurika, OK 73573. Graveside services to follow at the Waurika Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or Alzheimer’s Foundation.
