

Matthew Christopher “Chris” Jones went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Chris had diabetes and had many battles with the disease over the years. He was diagnosed with AML (leukemia) in December of 2016 and fought hard with many days of treatment. He is now running on the streets of glory with new feet and a healthy body.
Chris was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, May 30, 1960. Chris trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized when he was 9 years old. His family moved to Japan in 1970 to serve as missionaries. Chris and his siblings helped his parents with mission work, and he spoke fondly of Japan, always wanting to go back. His family moved back to Oklahoma City in 1977 when his little brother Eric was diagnosed with cancer. God healed him of the disease. Chris attended Midwest Christian College for two years following high school and resided in the Del City area. During his teenage years Chris was an assistant manager at McDonald's in Yokosuka, Japan. In 1978 he was a dispatcher for Radio Call. In 1979 he began work at the General Motors Oklahoma City Plant on the Assembly Line. He worked for GM until his medical retirement in 1999. Chris married Nina Thomason on June 13, 1981. They celebrated 35 years of marriage last summer. The Lord blessed them with 13 children and a 13th grandchild on the way. They were residents of Del City, Oklahoma; Saginaw, Michigan, and have resided in Oklahoma City since 1998. Chris was a member and elder at Mid-Del Christian Church from 1984 to 1995. He was member of First Baptist Church of Bridgeport, Michigan in 1996 and Southwest Baptist Church of Oklahoma City since 1998.
Chris was preceded in death by his grandparents, brother Milton Carey Jones Jr., baby brother Nathaniel, an unborn sibling, father-in-law Raymond Thomason, and six unborn children.
Chris is survived by his wife Nina Jones of the home, daughter and son-in-law Rebekah and Derek Jamison of Oklahoma City, daughter and son-in-law Hannah and Andrew Smith of Oklahoma City, son and daughter-in-law Josiah and Courtney Jones of Cuernavaca, Mexico, daughter and son-in-law Esther and Randy Brown of Bakersfield, California, son Micah of Denver, Colorado, daughter Rachel of Norman, Oklahoma, son Caleb of Ansbach, Germany, daughter Naomi, daughter Lydia, son Daniel, son Luke, son Seth, and son Jeremiah all of the home. He is also survived by his parents, Milton and Barbara Jones of Independence Kansas, sister and brother-in-law Kathy and Eric Dillow of Papillion, Nebraska, brother and sister-in-law Randy and Heather Jones of O’Fallon, Missouri, brother and sister-in-law Eric and Karla Jones of Coffeyville Kansas, mother-in-law Sue Thomason of Oklahoma City, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joel and June Thomason of Charlotte, North Carolina, 13 grandchildren, two nephews, and five nieces.
Funeral Service is to be held Friday, March 10th, 2017 at 11 am, located at Southwest Baptist Church, 1300 SW 54th St., Oklahoma City, OK, 73119. No graveside service to follow.
He was loved and will be missed by many family and friends.
