Michael Joseph Milligan, 65, of Oklahoma City, passed away on August 6, 2024. Born on April 10, 1959, in Newton, Iowa, he was the son of Billie and John “Jack” Milligan. Mike grew up in a close-knit family of loving parents and three brothers.
Mike was a graduate of John Marshall High School and furthered his education at the University of Oklahoma where he studied Geology. In his early twenties, Mike began his career in Oil and Gas as a landman and further expanded by starting his own mineral acquisition company. He then transitioned to fuel marketing, working with his brother Dave, and nephew, Tyler, at World Fuel Services for the past 25 years. Known for his charisma and quick wit, Mike was often described as a living legend who lived life to the fullest. One of a kind, truly one of one, his presence brought joy and laughter to all. Mike left a lasting impact on everyone he met. He had a huge heart.
He was passionate about family, faith, music, travel and many sports. By and large, golf was his favorite, and he was a long-time member of The Quail Creek Golf and Country Club. Mike cherished sunny ski and beach vacations and traveling with the love of his life, Susie Harris, who he affectionately called his Susanna, Sugar or “Shug”. He was a music aficionado, a joy he instilled in his children. Mike’s life was set to a constant soundtrack - self-orchestrated. Mike enjoyed and valued family time above all. He raised four remarkable sons - Matthew, Jack, Joseph, and Fitzgerald - who were the pride of his life.
Playful visits with his seven step-grandchildren were a constant fixture and brought Mike much joy. Mike would play games, buy plenty of drones, and engage in outdoor fun and shenanigans with them, bringing loads of laughter and lifelong memories.
Mike is survived by his mother, Billie Milligan; brothers, Dave Milligan (Kim) and Patrick Milligan (Joan); and wife, Susie Harris and numerous nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, John “Jack,” and brother Mark Milligan.
Mike was a cradle Catholic sustained by his child-like faith. He was a true maverick who rarely followed the rules but was loved by all.
Services will be held at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Oklahoma City on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 12:00 pm. Followed by a celebration of life at Quail Creek Country Club in the Rotunda Room.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Association. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed.
