Michael "Mike" Pagonis was born to John M. and Eugenia Pagonis in Kardamyla, Chios, Greece, came to America in 1934, with his mother and brother, Peter. Mike graduated from Central High School and went on to attend OU, OCU and Holy Cross Theological School in Brookline, MA. He served in the US Navy and the Reserves. He married the love of his life Jo Ann Pippin in 1952. They had four children: John M., Mark M., Gregory G.M. Pagonis and Gina Michelle Kostiuk. They lived in OKC and Tulsa. He served on the parish council of both churches. He was a life long Greek Orthodox Christian. He had four brothers: Peter J. and wife Paula, George J., Jim J. and wife Maria, Nick J. and wife Darlene, and sister-in-law Marcella "Lela" Pagonis. Mike was a wonderful and caring husband, father, Papou (grandfather), great-grandfather, and friend. He was a past president, District Governor and member for over 63 years of the Order of AHEPA. Mike retired from Philip Morris USA and was co-owner of the Oklahoma Import Grocery with his brother Nick. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Peter and wife Paula; son Mark Pagonis; grandson Makarios Kostiuk and daughter-in-law Susan Pagonis. Mike is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jo Ann Pagonis; children, John M. Pagonis, Gregory G.M. Pagonis and Gina Michelle Kostiuk; grandchildren Michael J. and wife Mysti Pagonis, William "Billy" Pagonis, Michael M. and wife Sarah Pagonis, Markella Pagonis and fiancé Kidd Coyle, Melissa Pagonis and Chad Barker, Alexis and husband Casey Wilmeth, Michael and Marc Kostiuk, Joannah, Gabriel and Gavin Pagonis; great grandchildren, Luke, Maddy and Ella Pagonis, Addy, Demitri and Elijah Pagonis, Peter, Stephen and Evyenia Pagonis, Thalia Cline, Kallista Wilmeth, Joey Coyle is on the way. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are officiated by Father John Tsaras. Trisagion will be Thursday at 7 pm at Hahn-Cook and Funeral at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 2101 NW 145th St., at 11 am Friday. Burial at Rose Hill Burial Park. Donations may be made in Mike's name to St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Arrangements under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, Oklahoma City, OK.
