

Nauman Paul Baker, 85, of OKC passed peacefully from this life on July 12, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral & Cremation Service and a service celebrating his amazing life will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday. July 15, 2017 at the Advantage Funeral Chapel at 7720 S. Penn in S. OKC with interment following at Arlington Memory Gardens. Public visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Friday evening.
Nauman was born on March 11, 1932 in Independence, MO to Margaret Kitner. At age 5 his family relocated to OKC where his mom met and married Robert C. Baker. A short time later Nauman was adopted by Robert Baker, whom he always considered to be his father. In 1950 he graduated from Capitol Hill High School and soon after enlisted in the United States Army. Nauman was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston where he served as a truck driver until his honorable discharge in May or 1952.
Nauman returned to OKC where he met the love of his life, Lois “Jean” Palmer while attending church at Exchange Ave Baptist Church. They were married in October of 1954 and spent the next 62 years by each other’s side. Nauman spent nearly four decades working at Tinker Air Force Base where he assisted in designing the cooling systems on the B-1B bombers. He retired in 1988 to spend more time with Jean and his girls.
In his younger days he enjoyed taking his wife and girls camping or to other various attractions around the state. When he was not working, Nauman enjoyed spending the majority of his day in the shop behind his home. He spent hours each day working on remodeling projects, refurbishing his cherished 1940 Ford, or making wooden guns, wagons, horses, forts, and chests for his kids and grandkids. Nauman Baker was a loving husband, a protective father, a caring brother, and a proud “Pampa” and he will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Jean of the home; Two daughters: Karri Baker Craighead and husband Waylon of OKC and Diane Baker and Stephen Barre’ of Atlanta, GA ; seven grandchildren: Skylar Vowell, Brannon Vowell and wife Chelsie, Sosha Baker, Aurora Caldwell, Kyle Craighead, Darian Craighead, and Lane Craighead; two great grandchildren: Lilah Beth Vowell and Dawson Knox Vowell; two siblings: Robert Baker and Trudy Daggs; as well as many friends and other family members.
