Norma Ruth Bishop McIntire entered her eternal home to be with the Lord on December 2, 2020. Norma was born on September 9, 1923, in Boynton, Oklahoma, to Jesse L. and Rose Bishop, who preceded her in death. She moved to Oklahoma City at the age of five where she attended school and later graduated from Capitol Hill High School. When Norma was only five years old, she met Norma Jean Roper Lundeen, and they were very best friends for more than 90 years, until Norma Jean passed away on January 15, 2020. Norma Ruth was married on December 24, 1941 to Harold C. McIntire, just weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor. While her husband served in the South Pacific during the war, Norma lived with her sister in California. After the war they returned to Oklahoma City, and she spent the rest of her life there, raising her children and working as a hairdresser at Hair Port on North May. Her husband Harold C. “Chet” passed away in 2011. She is survived by her son and wife, Larry and Debbie McIntire, and her daughter and husband, Merle and Steve Anderson. Another daughter, Judy and husband, Skip Geiger, preceded her in death. Norma had four sisters, including Joann Gilstrap of Oklahoma City, who survives. She was always proud of her seven grandchildren: Dean Doss, Tim Wade, Aaron Wade, Amy Hadley, Ryan McIntire, Andrea Tou, and Daniel McIntire, along with thirteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Norma enjoyed a full and happy life and always looked forward to eternal rest in heaven with all the many friends and loved ones who had gone before her. The family extends a special thanks to Oklahoma Palliative and Hospice and especially to Mona Lisa, for her loving care and compassion in Norma’s final days. A private family service will be held in her memory.
