Norma Jeanne Wilson, a devoted servant of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, passed peacefully into her eternal home on March 1, 2025, at the age of 98. A resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, she lived a life full of faith, love, and dedication to her family and community.
Born on October 31, 1926, in Healdton, Oklahoma, Norma was the cherished daughter of Harry A. Grisham and Alice M. Wooten. She grew up in Countyline, Oklahoma, and attended Alma High School, where she laid the foundation for her love of learning. Norma pursued higher education at the Oklahoma College for Women (OCW) in Chickasha, Oklahoma, where she nurtured her passion for teaching and touched countless young lives through her work at Little Playhouse on Wilshire Blvd.
On August 11, 1946, Norma married the love of her life, Charles Randolph Wilson of Oxford, Mississippi, with whom she shared 55 years of devoted partnership. Together, they built a beautiful family and legacy, raising two beloved children, Carol J. Bixler and C. Michael Wilson, five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A woman of unwavering faith, Norma was a member of First Baptist Church since 1952, where she found joy in serving her congregation, especially in the preschool ministry. Her commitment to her community extended beyond the church walls as she volunteered her time at Deaconess Hospital, providing comfort and kindness to those in need.
Norma's life was a testament to her love for her family-and her deep and abiding faith. She spent countless hours praying for her loved ones, demonstrating a quiet strength and steadfast devotion that will forever be remembered. She found joy in simple pleasures-reading Christian books, volunteering, and spending time with her cherished family.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Carol J. Bixler; her son, C. Michael Wilson. She survived her brother, Harry Grisham and sister, Bille Bussey. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and selfless service that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Norma Jeanne Wilson's life exemplified Proverbs 31 :28: "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her." Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will remain in the hearts of her family and friends, as well as the countless lives she touched through her faith and compassion.
A celebration of Norma's life and legacy will be held at First Baptist Church of Oklahoma City on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM at The First Baptist Church, 1201 N. Robinson Ave., Oklahoma City, OK in the Louise Prichard Chapel, burial following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to Mercy Hospice.
Norma has left a beautiful mark on this world, and we rejoice in knowing that she is now in the loving arms of her Savior.
