

Orville “Rudy” Rufus Bennight Jr. passed away September 13, 2025, at his home in Choctaw, Oklahoma. He was born on February 20, 1944, in San Antonio, Texas, to Orville Rufus Bennight Sr. and Thelma Lee (McDonald) Bennight. Rudy grew up in Texas and Oklahoma and later made Choctaw, Oklahoma, his forever home. He attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee for a year before proudly serving in the United States Air Force Reserve. Following his military service, Rudy dedicated over 20 years to law enforcement, serving as a police officer in Oklahoma. On May 8, 1965, Rudy married the love of his life, Sharon Lee (Cusick) Jenkins. Together, they shared 60 wonderful years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, faith, and family. He had a deep love for history and classic Western shows and music. He was especially fond of artists like Marty Robbins, Gene Autry, and Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. Rudy cherished fall days spent hunting or cheering on a high school football team under the Friday night lights at Choctaw and Putnam City West Public Schools. Rudy loved his family deeply and spent many years volunteering in his community, including dressing up as Santa Clause during the holidays. He will be remembered for his kindness, honesty, and dedication to others. He is survived by his wife Sharon Lee Bennight; children, Orville Rufus Bennight III, Travis Shane Bennight (Stella), Thelma “TJ” Rasor (Rob); sister Judy Steele (Joe), ten grandchildren, Joshua Bennight, Elizabeth Martin, Summer Bennight, Autumn Bennight, Olivia Bennight, Natalie Bee, Shane Blackburn, Alex Rasor, Shelbi Philippi and Ashley Wray; fifteen great grandchildren; two nieces and seven nephews.
A visitation for Orville will be held Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A visitation will occur Friday, September 19, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM, 2700 Main Street, Choctaw, OK 73020.
