Paul John Richenburg III was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Paul and Opal Richenburg. He graduated from Central High School in Wichita, Kansas. He served in the US Navy from 1958-1962 where he graduated in the top ten percent of his class in Machinist Mate Class “A” School. A job opportunity brought him to Oklahoma City where he earned degrees in Civil Engineering and Industrial Drafting from Oklahoma State University. An exemplary employee, he worked for Aero Commander, Unistrut, CMI, and the City of Oklahoma City. He retired from the City of Oklahoma City after 35 years in Engineering Field Services. June 4, 1965 Paul married Wilma Rachel White and they had two children, Melody and Paul John IV.
Paul was a kind, gentle man who loved greatly. He gave in heart to Jesus at age 22 and never wavered from that commitment until his homegoing on July 17, 2023. He volunteered in his church children's ministry for many years and was dearly loved by them. He and Rachel went out of their way to transport many children to church over the years.
Paul and Rachel loved to travel and they drove many miles on back roads in old vehicles, taking in the scenery. Two traveling highlights in their adventures are their anniversary trip to Hawaii and their mission trip to Guatemala. Paul loved nature and beauty and had an incessant curiosity about the world around him. He was an excellent marksman and loved cars, animals and ice cream. He had a wealth of knowledge on a wide variety of subjects that can’t be replaced. He was an excellent car mechanic and had many building skills. He and Rachel enjoyed daily lunch at the Yukon Senior Center and visiting with friends there.
Paul is survived by his wife Rachel, daughter Melody Jack, Son Paul IV and daughter-in -law Joanna, sister Patty Webber, sister-in-law Sue Richenburg, grand children Rachael, Charity and Joshua Jack and Paul John V and Nathan Richenburg, nieces, nephews and friends.
Paul’s most outstanding legacy is his love of people. He was a safe place, accepting and interested. His steady love made a difference in the lives of those around him and he was an outstanding “Dad” and “Papa” to both his family and to many others. Paul’s greatest desire for each of you was that you come to know the God who loves you, the one he himself was a shining reflection of.
