Peggy Ruth (Lawyer) Croston 1929 to 2020 – 90 years Peggy Ruth Croston passed away peacefully of natural causes in Houston, Texas, on June 9, 2020. Peggy was born Peggy Ruth Lawyer on July 23, 1929 in Ada, Oklahoma to Earnest Lawyer and Gorda (Welch) Lawyer. Peggy’s homes were primarily in Oklahoma where she grew up. She attended junior high school in Ada and high school at Classen in Oklahoma City and graduated in 1947. Peggy then attended college at Oklahoma A&M (OSU) and married George Holland Croston. Peggy and George raised three sons, Mark Holland Croston, Scott Miller Croston, and Dale Earnest Croston. The Croston family lived in Tulsa, then on the Dresser’s ranch in Talahina, Oklahoma, then Blackwell, Oklahoma. They finally settled in Oklahoma City. In Oklahoma City, Peggy and George were active in the First Presbyterian Church on Western Ave. Peggy eventually retired after a twenty-nine year career in business administration with New York Life Insurance. After husband, George, passed away in 2001, Peggy moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma to be closer to her youngest son, Dale Croston. As Dale and wife Lisa led active lives in the community of Stillwater and Oklahoma State University, so did Peggy have an active retirement, helping to raise grandson, Jared. Peggy became a member of the Sunnybrook Christian Church until 2014, when Dale passed away unexpectedly in 2013. Peggy then traveled south of the Red River to be near her middle son, Scott Croston, and his wife, Barbara, in Houston, Texas. In Houston, Peggy began official retirement as a resident of the independent and then assisted living centers at the Parkway Place. All will remember “Ms. Peggy” as a very kind soul, great sense of humor, and capable organizer. However, for her family, no one was more dependable: she did everything perfectly. Peggy is preceded in death by son Mark Croston, Dale Croston, and husband, George. Peggy will then be moved to Oklahoma City. In Oklahoma City, a viewing will be arranged on July 2 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, 6600 Broadway Extension.
