Ricki Lynn Wilson, 65, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2025. Born in West Covina, California, on November 6th, 1959, Ricki lived a life filled with purpose, passion, and quiet strength.
Ricki was a dedicated educator, earning her Bachelor of Arts in English Education from the University of Central Oklahoma in 1999, followed by a master’s degree in 2006. She spent 24 years as a beloved high school English teacher, where she was known for her ability to connect with students, instill confidence, and spark a love of literature. For 10 years, she also served as an adjunct professor at Rose State College, teaching English Composition I and II, continuing her mission of empowering students through language and learning. Her gentle guidance and belief in the power of stories left a lasting impact on all who were lucky enough to be in her class.
Long before the classroom, Ricki was a competitor in youth rodeo and later became a proud and devoted barrel racing mom. She cherished her time working the Enid bull ridings and formed lifelong friendships through her years in the IPRA office, where her love of rodeo culture and community shined.
Ricki found joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending time outdoors and losing herself in a good book or writing her own. She loved her Jones High School class of ‘77 Sisters, rodeo family, school family, and countless friendships that were everlasting through the decades. She was a woman of graceful determination, deep thought, and enduring kindness. Whether she was working at the car dealership, keeping the books for her dad’s company, or helping in the rodeo box office, she devoted herself fully.
She is survived by her daughter, Codi Darakhshan, and son-in-law, David Darakhshan, who will carry forward her values of hard work, compassion, and empathy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Sandra Wilson, and her brother, Mark Wilson.
Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. – Aristotle
