February 13, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born May 5, 1936 in Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma, he was the son of Robert Lee Dumont and Rose Marie (Lukenga)
Dumont. Bob was the Patriarch of his family and commanded a strong presence to those around him. He loved his wife, Frances very much. Rarely did they spend an evening apart. They enjoyed vacationing at the lake together. They often fished together, Bobby always made sure Frances had the right tackle she needed and her own spot on the boat where she was comfortable. He was our rock that we all leaned on in times of need or advice. After working as an automotive technician at several dealerships and hotrod shops, Bob opened his own independent Porsche Repair facility in the late 60’s. He was one of the few people at the time to have scored a 100 % on his test at the Porsche training facility. Porsche rewarded him with a gold watch for his efforts. He grew up building and racing many street cars in his younger years and progressed to the top of the drag racing world when he and his fellow pioneers of the racing community fielded his first Top Fuel Dragster. He toured the country, hitting all the major race tracks, racing his car while garnering the respect of his peers, enjoying many regional wins and setting many track records with Larry Brown as his driver. Bob loved his family and as it grew he made the decision in the late 70’s to stop racing so he could focus on spending more time at home with his wife, Frances and his kids. His Porsche business was expanding rapidly at the time having employed some of the best technicians in the area. He soon became the go to guy in the Porsche community. Bob enjoyed making anything with a motor “Go
Faster”! He was an avid WW II history buff, gun collector, hunter, and fisherman
who especially loved striped bass fishing. Bob and Frances loved spending time with their grandchildren. He and his family spent many summer vacations at the different area lakes teaching his kids and grand children how to camp and fish. Bob was a well-respected man not just for his racing or business dealings but more so from how he treated the people around him. He was a leader of few words choosing to let his actions speak for themselves. He was a man of conviction that could separate wrong from right when most could not. He leaves behind a host of family and friends that will forever feel the void of his absence on this earth. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. Survivors include his wife, Frances (Randleman) Dumont of the home; two sons, Tony Wrone of Colorado; and Michael and his wife Kelly Dumont of Edmond, OK; five daughters, Debbie and her husband Gene Jones
