Robert "Jack" J. O'Connor Jr.

Robert J. "Jack" O'Connor passed away on June 19, 2014. Jack was born to Robert J. Sr. and Ora Mae O'Connor in Lapeer, MI on July 21, 1934. He graduated from Lapeer High School in 1952. He went on active duty with the USNR in February of 1953 and met his future wife, Betty Lou Shanahan, while stationed in Norman, OK. They were married on November 20, 1954. After separation from the Navy in February of 1955, they returned to Lapeer, where Jack worked for several electrical wholesale distributors. They moved back to Oklahoma in 1962. Jack worked for Snyder Service Electric Supply Co. of Dallas, TX and retired in January of 2009. Jack is survived by his five children: Tim (and Joni) of Yukon, Pat of Oklahoma City, Mike (and Diane) of Kansas City, MO, Mark of Oklahoma City and Margaret Spear (and David) of Bethany; eight grandchildren, Chris (and Jamie), Mandi (and Cristina), Sean, Dylan (and Ashley), Eric, Tyler (and Molli), Chase, and Justin; and seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jordynn, Jacy, Zoe, Addison, Preslee, and Lilly Ann; two brothers, Jim (and Albie) of Henderson, NV and John (and Val) of Youngstown, OH; two sisters, Judy Copeman (and Jim), of Marquette, MI and Jane Grafius (and Jim) of Colton, CA; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, who passed away in January 2012 and a brother, Jerry, who also passed away in that same month.

Jack was a member of the American Legion and was a Friend of Bill's since 1984. In lieu of flowers, he wished that contributions be made to the Western Foundation, 5207 N. Western, Oklahoma City, OK 73118.

Funeral Services will be 10am Monday, June 23, 2014 at the Guardian Funeral Home West Chapel, followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery, OKC. Family will recieve friends from 6pm to 8pm on Sunday, June 22. Arrangements under the direction of Guardian Funeral Homes West Chapel, Oklahoma City, OK.
