Robert “Bob” Stem born on October 5, 1928 in Oklahoma City, passed away on July 3, 2025 at the age of 96. He is proceeded in death by a sister Frances Nokes and twin, Charles. He is survived by his wife Rosemary and they would have been married 75 years on Sept 16.
Bob was 100% Czech. He and Rosemary lived at 1717 S.W. 17 for 68 years. He was a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Bob has a daughter, Cyndy (Mike) Peterson and son Larry Stem. His grandkids are Jayson (Laurie) Flynn, Casey Flynn, Andy Flynn, Brandy (Brian) Rowe and Christy Taylor. Great grandkids are Karson and Payton Flynn, Jayce and Ella Flynn and Justin and Ava Rowe.
Bob graduated from Central High and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1952. He enjoyed his job as a mail carrier for 27 years and knew everyone on his route including their dogs! He was a master at dominoes and was competitive and enjoyed all card games.
For many years Bob loved the lake, boats, water skiing, running the trot line, cabin for 26 years at Fort Cobb, grilling, playing horse shoes, and shooting crows. He taught many to water ski and was the safest driver on the lake! Then they bought the HiLo trailer and traveled the US having the family come along on many of those trips. They became accomplished Polka dancers while enjoying winters in South Texas and headlined many shows.
Bob excelled in wood carving and made many for family and friends. Never selling them but giving them out of love. Family, especially the grandkids, brought him much joy! He looked forward to the monthly family get-togethers which also included blackberry wine!
Bob had a sharp mind and his memory was incredible. He loved telling the old stories in detail, over and over, which we all enjoyed hearing.
Bob loved Rosemary and they did nearly everything together including many trips to Branson, cooking food from the old country and new recipes and many years in Jan’s exercise class with their friends. He was very frugal, enjoyed saving a dime and finding a bargain at what he called the bone pile (thrift store)! Bob would said when someone died that they made parole!
Bob, Pa, Dad, will be missed by so many but he will not be forgotten! You’ve made parole!
