Roland Dee Edmonds

Roland Dee Edmonds, a resident of Bethany since 1964; beloved son, brother, uncle and friend went to be with the Lord on October 27 at the age of 59. He was born September 18, 1955 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Roland was the son of Louis A. Edmonds and Estelean M. (Wolf) Edmonds. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 2000. He graduated from Putnam City West in 1973, Oklahoma City Community College in 2005 and the University of Oklahoma in 2008 with a Bachelors of Arts in Social Work. He started working for TEEM in October 2009 and became an Adjunct Professor for OU. He enjoyed playing softball where he met some of his best friends. One of Roland’s great pleasures was ‘christening’ his new TEEM interns every year by taking them on the metro transit system. He also loved the Wizard of Oz. Roland cared about people and became a Big Brother to Christopher Kennedy in 2004 until his death. Many called him “Scooter”, “Rolli”, “Sooner Brother” and “Roland Dee”. He was a Boomer…Sooner…BOOMER… SOONER!!! He was the biggest OU fan; he held season tickets for Women’s Basketball and Football. The Social Work profession was his passion because of his love for people. Even though he suffered with the disease of diabetes for 20 years Roland always persevered and lived life to the fullest. He often said he couldn't make it without the Lord. The family would like to thank Dr. Gigi Toma and her office staff for their care. Roland was preceded in death by his Mother in 2001. He will be greatly missed by his father, Louis A. Edmonds; sister, Ronda Pinkerton & husband, Curtis of OKC; brother, Tyrone Edmonds & wife, Barbara of Minco, OK; brother, Michael Edmonds & wife, Leslie of Mustang; brother, Kenny Edmonds & husband, Jim Emery of Vancouver, B.C.; sister Ann Pennokee & husband, Nathan of Piedmont; sister Marion Ramirez & husband, Randy of Bethany, OK; eleven nephews, four nieces, four great nephews and six great nieces; little brother, Christopher Kennedy of OKC and numerous friends and social worker colleagues.

He will be greatly missed by:
