Ronald Joseph Ethier was born July 13th 1957, to Fernand and Theodore “Emile” Ethier. He graduated high school from Blackstone-Millville High School and joined the Air Force in 1975. He met and married his wife, Pam on his first assignment to the Philippines. He proudly served for 8 years. He went on to have four children, eleven grandchildren, one great granddaughter and one on the way.
Ron lost his battle with cancer on 09-28-19, joining his mother and father who preceded him in heaven. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pamela Ethier, and their evil cat, Sox of Oklahoma City and four children: Michelle Ethier, and her fiancé, James Blackwood, and their children; Blake Thatcher, William Blackwood, Victoria Sanders, and her husband, John Sanders, and their daughter, Allyson and second daughter soon arriving, Philip V. “Jacob” Jonas, Lyrah Blackwood, and Rachael Jonas of Moore. Lorien and husband, Dave Holman of Edmond, and their children; Monique Ethier of Norman, Jaiden Martinez of Maine, Diego Martinez and Keegan Holman of Edmond , Ted and Jennifer Ethier and furbabies; Chewy, Thor and Baxter Ethier of Oklahoma City, and Aaron Ethier of Aurora, CO, and his children; Bryce, Angel, and Ryjal of Moore, OK. He is also survived by his older brother, Andre Ethier and family of MA and younger sister, Cecile Christiansen and family of RI, his mother and father in-law, Carl and Barbara Thelin of Garland, Texas and numerous extended family as well as friends who he adopted as family, which he did throughout his life.
Ron was a simple man. He was not materialistic and did not want much for himself, though he was generous to others. He loved his family and worked hard his entire life to take care of them. He worked in management in some capacity most of his work life and made friends wherever he was. He was well read and loved facts and statistics as much as he loved to read science fiction. He loved OU football and the Red Sox. He loved his evil cat, Sox and she will miss watching sports games in his lap dearly. He knew a little bit of something about virtually everything. He was musically inclined and learned to play the trombone, violin, guitar, piano, saxophone and flute. He was also an excellent tenor and an accomplished singer in high school. He was worship leader at several churches as well as in several Christian bands. He had a deep faith in God and worked in some capacity in every church he attended. He was full of joy and laughter and his personality entered the room before he did. All four of his children share this laughter and his work ethic. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener, fisherman, and raised chickens whom he lovingly referred to as “his girls.” He said he loved gardening because it brought him closer to his mom whom he lost young. This is yet another legacy that is sadly being passed down to his children. He always had a very stupid dad joke or fun fact available to entertain anyone. He was wickedly intelligent, very funny and never missed an opportunity to be silly. All the grandkids enjoyed spending time with him because he was a kid at heart. He taught all his children and grandchildren not to take life too seriously and to enjoy the moment as it was happening through the life he lived. It is hard to imagine family memories being made without his laughter somewhere in the background. Heaven now feels more like home knowing he is waiting for us. One day, we will laugh together again.
Memorial Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper.
