Ron was born on January 1, 1942 to Anthony F. and Sophie E. Voci in Rome, New York. Ron attended and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1959. Ron decided to join the Air Force in February 1961 and was honorably discharged in February 1965 from Williams Air Force Base, AZ.
Ron then started working for General Electric in Oklahoma City where he met Barbara, his future wife. Barbara Umbarger and Ron were married on March 15, 1969 in Oklahoma City.
Ron and Barbara had three children, Kathy, Kim and Kris. After working in the computer field for several years, the family moved to California. While living in California, Ron enjoyed going to the beach, attending activities with the kids and being with family. He helped with science projects, which were supposed to be the kid’s school lessons.
In 1992, the family moved back to Oklahoma City. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, re-loading, going to functions of his grandchildren and taking photos of it all.
Ron started with the City of Oklahoma City of which he retired on January 6, 2012. Once retired he and Cookie (dog) traveled the countryside. While traveling with Cookie, he would only stay at pet friendly hotels and visit cites that would allow Cookie to go in.
After a battle with Covid, Ron’s memory just wasn’t the same so he went to live in a memory care facility. There he continued his protective nature and the staff enjoyed his sense of humor and stubbornness.
Ron is proceeded in death by his wife Barbara and parents. He is survived by his 3 children, daughter Kathy Huff and husband Daryel, daughter Kim Sweeden and husband Jeff and son Kris Voci and wife Jamie, brother Rocky Voci and wife Fran, grandchildren, Clay Huff and wife Danyelle, Callie Sharp and husband Jason, Haley Sweeden, Olivia Voci, AJ Voci and Jacob Sweeden. The family would like to thank Sommerset Neighborhood Assisted Living & Memory Care for the care and compassion given to our dad and to Traditions Health Hospice Care for the kindness and love shown to him during his last days.
