Ruby Dean (Jarrett) Barrett, 81, was called home with her family by her side on Valentine’s Day 2018. She was born on November 4, 1936 in Coolidge, AZ to the late Robert W. Jarrett and Mary E. (Marr) Jarrett. She was preceded in death by her brothers Otis, Marvin, Robert, Clifford, Garner, and Fred and by one sister, Betty. She is survived by her husband of 54 years Gordon Loyd Barrett of Tuttle, her sister Mary Ann Vickers of Virginia, 2 daughters, Cynthia Barrett-Luce and her husband David, Andrea Polson and her husband Clay, one son Richard Barrett, 8 grandchildren Tyler, Alex, Connor, Riki, Lindsey, Steven, Grant, and Kacy, 2 great-grandchildren Laney, Malakai and a host of nieces and nephews.
She married Gordon on August 31, 1963 and together they raised their 3 children. Ruby was completely devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and many other loved ones that she considered her own. If you ever truly met Ruby, you experienced both her loving, giving heart and her feisty, sassy disposition. Her legacy will continue to impact lives for years to come because she made us all want to be better.
Ruby graduated high school from Allen, OK and eventually became an expert office manager. Through her life she loved gardening, crafting, and most recently, quilting and she loved to share her talents and gifts with others. She was a young spirit who led by example, guided with fervency and never turned down a challenge.
Our beloved Ruby will be laid to rest on February 19, 2018 at the Allen cemetery following a 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle, OK. Officiating will be lovingly performed by Bro. Jerry Eperson. The visitation is scheduled from 10:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 18th at Advantage Funeral Home in South Oklahoma City.
