

Rufus Mose Johnson, 93, also known as "Curtis" was born on April 8, 1929 to his parents Ollie (Stice) Johnson and Donald O. Johnson in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Curtis passed away on Saturday, July 9th, 2022 at his home in Midwest City, Oklahoma surrounded by his loving family.
Curtis attended Macomb High School and received his high school diploma in 1947. Early in Curtis' career he was a salesman for a span of 12-13 years. Curtis later went to work at the Lexington Prison as a security guard for 12 years. Curtis enjoyed playing the sport of baseball when he was young and later softball when he was older. He also enjoyed working and solving puzzles, and playing dominoes. Some of Curtis' favorite vacations were visiting the Baseball Hall of Fame, Badlands National Park, and the Mount Rushmore National Memorial in South Dakota. Curtis was also a devout Christian who was called by faith to be baptized and accept Christ as his lord and savior. Curtis was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald & Ollie (Stice) Johnson; two sisters; and one step-daughter.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 29 years Dora Elizabeth Johnson; daughter, Patricia Mae (Johnson) Peters & husband Dan; daughter, Leisa Marie Johnson-McGee & husband Richard; son, Steven Howard Johnson & wife DeAnn; two step-daughters; one step-son; four brothers; two sisters; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
The Johnson family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to the hospice team from Interim Hospice who cared for Rufus.
A visitation for Curtis will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141. A funeral service will occur Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home with interment to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens, 3400 N. Midwest Blvd., Midwest City, OK 73141.
