Sally W. Bartrug

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Sally Nettie Ann Wiseman Bartrug. Sally was born to Omega Fogleson and raised in Oklahoma City by her adoptive parents, John and Lucy Wiseman along with nine other adopted children who are all deceased. At 83 years old, Sally passed away following the effects of an aggressive cancer surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

A lifelong resident in Edmond and Oklahoma City, Sally lived for her family and showed kindness, compassion and generosity to all. Sally is survived by her husband of nearly 58 years, John D Bartrug; her children, Robert D Roland of Stamford, CT, Marilyn R Gullion and husband Jim Poage of Highlands Ranch, CO; her grandson that brought her so much joy, Robert L Gullion of Gilbert, AZ; and extended family whose love and support meant the world to her; Arthur Carl (Duke) Reeds III and wife Phyllis of Hartford, CT, William S Reeds and wife Ellen of Owasso, OK, and Susan Murray and husband Mike of Owasso, all with children and grandchildren.

With a challenging childhood, Sally was self-taught and found ways to overcome life’s obstacles. Her love began with family, particularly her husband, children and grandson, and she was so proud. Sally’s life was punctuated by kindness and generosity that drove her spirit, a desire to travel domestically and internationally learning about other cultures and ways of life, and a tenderness that left no conversation or exchange of words seemingly insignificant. As Sally’s soul has left her body behind, her gentle spirit leaves family and friends with memories a little more beautiful than before.

On Sunday, May 28, 2023, there will be an interment at 9:00 am at Resthaven Cemetery 500 SW 104th St, OKC, OK, followed by a Jewish Memorial Service for all at 11:00 am at the Chabad Community Center, 3000 W Hefner Road, OKC, OK.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society (donatecancer.org) or the Chabad Community Center (jewishokc.com)
