Sam Duane Nimmo, 70, passed away June 2, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital. Born Nov 2, 1944 to James Clair Nimmo and Ruth Nimmo in Claremore, OK where he lived until college. He was a student at OMA for two years and then transferred to Tulsa University, where he earned a degree in Aerospace Studies. He joined the Air Force as an ROTC cadet during his junior year at TU. During his Air Force career, he was stationed in Whiteman AFB, Missouri; Chanute AFB, Illinois; Korat AFB, Thailand; Westover AFB, MA; Plattsburg AFB, NY; FE Warren AFB, WY; Lakenheath AFB, England; and finally Tinker AFB in OKC, OK where he retired at the rank of Colonel in 1988. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Arlene (Rumbaugh) Nimmo; Son, Jeffrey Nimmo; Son, James Nimmo; Daughter, Jeanette (Nimmo) Harper; and two grandchildren, Hailey and Kadence. Services for Sam will be 10:30am, Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in OKC.
