

Samye was raised and went to school in McAlester, Oklahoma. After her Freshman year in High School her father, who worked for the state, was transferred to Oklahoma City. She attended NW Classen High School in Okc for her Sophomore year where she made a lot of new friends but really missed all her friends back in her hometown. After her Sophomore year her family moved back to McAlester where she finished her Junior & Senior year at McAlester High School and graduated a Buffalo. Samye pursued her education at UCO (Central State when she attended) and graduated with a Bachelor's degree. Though she worked at various jobs, starting at Western Electric, Allstate and then EDP Search as a Recruiter. Her true passion was being a homemaker. She was a devoted mother who cherished caring for her family and her children, Carter and Brandye.
An avid tennis player, Samye was a member of the Woodlake Racquet Club and participated in numerous group leagues, enjoying the company of her tennis friends. Her adventurous spirit led her to love snow skiing, scuba diving, and her favorite travel destinations included Mexico, the Cayman Islands, and Hawaii, she also enjoyed taking cruises. A huge fan of Elvis, she collected everything related to him, including her Elvis themed checks.
Samye's faith was a significant part of her life. She started attending Church of the Servant in the 1970’s, after getting remarried in 1981, the family attended North MacArthur Church of Christ in the 1980’s to early 1990’s. Later she came back to Church of the Servant where Carter and his family had come back to and were members.
She is survived by her children, Carter Cooper and his wife, Beckie, and Brandye Gage and her husband, Robin; grandchildren, Ashley Fogle and her husband, Ryan, Twins Roy Thomas Cooper and Carter Dale Cooper II; and great-grandchildren, Finn Fogle (5) and Margot Fogle (2 1/2). She was preceded in death by her mother, Willa Carter, her brother, Darel "Buzzy" Carter Jr, and then her father Darel Carter Sr.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of the Servant, located at 14343 N MacArthur Blvd, Oklahoma City, OK 73142, on February 3, 2026, at 2:00 pm, followed by a brief reception then a graveside service will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens 8701 NW Expressway Okc, Ok 73162.
