Sandra Lynn Nondorf, age 77, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away on February 12, 2025. She was born in Shattuck, Oklahoma on October 31st, 1947, to Herbert and Lora Bittman. She was raised on the family farm as the middle child of three and learned at an early age the importance of family, faith, a strong work ethic, and community. On the family farm she developed a special bond with her sister, Willa Dean, and brother, Dennis, and they would remain best friends throughout life. She took great pride in being from Shattuck and cherished many lifelong friendships formed during her childhood. Sandra was baptized into Christ at the First Christian Church in Shattuck and continued her faith journey at Northside Christian Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she would remain an active member for the rest of her life and maintain many special friendships.
Sandra strongly believed in the importance of education and advancement of knowledge. She proudly graduated from Shattuck High School in 1965 and continued her education at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma, and then the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma, earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in support of her vocation as a Speech-Language Pathologist. She further earned credit hours towards her doctorate degree prior to starting a family.
On August 17, 1968, Sandra was united in marriage to the love of her life James (“Jim”) Leo Nondorf in Shattuck, Oklahoma. The two met at a carnival while attending college in Alva, Oklahoma and would later have four children together, Erik, Kyle, Darin, and Andrea, with another child, Brent, passing at birth. While Sandra enjoyed great fulfillment as a Speech-Language Pathologist, she placed family first and as it grew, she prioritized being a mother over a career. While she would later support Jim’s geology business working for D.E.K.A. Exploration (company using initials of children), being a great mother and wife was what she dedicated the rest of her life to and will always be remembered for the special impact she had on her family. Being together and sharing love and laughter within the family home in Quail Creek was what brought her the most joy in life. She opened her home up to all types of family and friend gatherings and loved hosting in the spirit of community and fellowship. Her sense of love, warmth, and community will be carried forward in the legacy she leaves.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Andrea Nondorf, son, Brent Nondorf, father Herbert Bittman, mother Lora Bittman, father-in-Law Leo Nondorf, mother-in-Law Majorie Nondorf, brother-in-law Sammy Jacoby, sister-in-law Karen Bittman, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Marilyn Hoover.
She is survived by her husband Jim of Oklahoma City, OK, son Erik and Trina Nondorf of Edmond, Oklahoma, son Kyle and Elizabeth Nondorf of Waunakee, Wisconsin, son Darin and Miranda Nondorf of Erie, Colorado, sister Willa Dean Jacoby of Shattuck, Oklahoma, brother Dennis Bittman of Shattuck, Oklahoma, brother-in-law Mike and Donna Nondorf of Hot Springs, Arkansas, grandchildren Trent, Catherine, Ethan, Beckett, and Liam, great-granddaughter Iris, and countless beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
