

Susan Dorothy Robinson Hermes, 69, passed away peacefully at home on June 7, 2016, surrounded by family. She was born October 1, 1946 in Chicago, IL to James and Evelyn Robinson. She graduated from Ripon College in 1968, where she met her future husband John Hermes. They were married on June 27th, 1970, and had 2 sons, Nick in 1972, and Peter in 1975. After a career as a teacher, Susan was involved in many non-profit activities, including service on the Oklahoma City School Board from 1980-1988, Oklahoma City Public School Foundation, Oklahoma City Beautiful, Hospice of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma Tree Bank, Literacy Coalition of Oklahoma County, Habitat for Humanity, and more. She was also an avid golfer and won the annual nine-hole tournament at Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club on several occasions. Susan was a devoted Christian and was active in St. Stephens Presbyterian Church as a member, elder, Sunday school teacher, Stephen’s Minister, choir member and a driving member of the Church’s semi-annual bake sale. Susan was a great and loving friend to all she knew. She had a kind and compassionate heart and enjoyed service to others. Susan’s life was characterized by her deep love of family and friends, her service to God, and her brilliant personality. She is survived by her husband John, their son Nick and daughter-in-law Barbara, son Peter, future daughter-in-law Angel and granddaughter Bryon. Services will be held Saturday June 11, 2016 at 3 p.m. at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 7201 W. Britton in Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Stephenson Cancer Center.
