Ted Leon Woolery

Ted L. Woolery was born 1/31/33 in Beaver Oklahoma to Forrest and Minnie Irene Woolery. After 79 years, he passed away peacefully on 7/29/31 at Mercy Hospital, surrounded by family. Love of country and commitment to service prompted Ted to enlist in the National Guard at the age of 17 where he proudly served in the 45th Artillery and achieved the rank of First Lieutenant. Ted married Jo Woolery on August 10th, 1950 in Enid, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school in Enid and serving with distinction during the Korean Conflict, Ted began his professional career with the Davis Paint Company. His work ethic, charisma and business acumen made him a successful salesman and manager at Davis and Gemini Coatings. For over 50 years, Ted was a leader in the paint and coatings industry. Besides being a loving husband and father, Ted excelled in golf and tennis at the Greens Golf and Country Club where for years he served as both a board member and President. A long-time resident of Oklahoma City, Ted enjoyed living on the Greens Golf Course! His love of the “outdoors” made coaching his sons in baseball, hunting and fishing with family and friends a true passion! Travelling the world and vacationing in Mazatlan, Mexico were also activities Ted relished. Ted treasured his family and is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jo. Their 3 sons, Roger and spouse Gloria, Rick, Tim and spouse Colleen; his brother, Forrest and spouse Shirley; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Minnie Woolery, sisters Pauline Price and Lucille Thomas. Ted’s dedication to his family, his ability to coach and mentor young men in sports and life’s skills and his innate ability to say “just the right thing” at “just the right time” will be missed; however, there are no regrets! A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday August 14th at Spring Creek Baptist, 11701 N. MacArthur Blvd. OKC, OK.
