Born in Elk City, Oklahoma, she weathered dust storms, National Depressions, WWII and five husbands! She was a proud and independent civil servant, union officer, bowler and artist. She was a generous mother and grandmother assisting her children in many ways. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Steve Surbeck, grandchildren Matt and Mariam Surbeck, Drs. Leslie Surbeck and Seth Janus and four lovely great granddaughters.
