On April 9, 2015, Thomas E. Roberts joined his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty, in Heaven. Tom was born May 14, 1925 in Longview, Texas and was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Arthur Roberts and Alta Josephine Turner Roberts, his sister Alta Anita Wright and her husband Mel. He is survived by one brother James A. Roberts of Kingman, Kansas and his wife Peggy.
After graduating from Putnam City High School, where he directed the High School Band his senior year, he enlisted in the Army and performed in the Army Dance Band across the country. After marrying Betty Jane Carter, he worked for her father while studying landscape design, which became his life's passion. While establishing himself in Oklahoma City as an accomplished designer, he began accepting clients nationwide and continued to pursue his passion until the end of his life. Throughout his lifetime, his example of benevolence was foundational in his Christian life.
Tommy enjoyed photographing his family, nature and the progress of his numerous design projects. Tom and Betty were Charter Members at the Village Church of Christ where he was a deacon and song leader. Later, he became a longtime member and deacon at Mayfair Church of Christ.
Tom is survived by three children, Rick (Veta), Randy (Brenda) and Janie Tigert (Craig), seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. His legacy will endure throughout the lives of each of them. Also, the family would like to especially thank Rene Fleming for the tremendous time, unending care and loving devotion first to Betty then to Tom until the end. We would also like to thank Dr. Brian Geister and Integris Hospice for their compassionate loving care.
