Thuy was born in Quảng Trị, Vietnam. Devoted wife of 51 years, she gave her heart to her first love. With her husband by her side, she bravely escaped to America in 1975 sacrificing the life she had known since birth to give her children freedom. Foster family Dwaine and Carolyn Hays helped anchor the Pham family to an educated and bountiful life in Oklahoma. Thuy was a gentle soul that was kind, selfless, soft-spoken, and had a heart of gold. Thuy gathered peace in tending to her garden of beautiful flowers, fruit trees, Vietnamese vegetables, and picking fruit with her nine grandchildren.
Her expertise and talent poured into every bowl of Bún bò Huế, perfectly fried egg rolls, and tôm rang muối. Her baking filled the kitchen with aromas and gathered her grandkids with eager learning eyes. Teaching us traditional recipes was just one of her joys. Thuy enjoyed walking with her friends and providing meals for family and friends. She was always there for family as family was always first in her heart. She was of honorable character in all walks of life. Her memory will live on in the many lives she’s touched.
