

Tom Logan Knott, age 73 of Norman, passed from this life on Sept. 2, 2019. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral and Cremation Services. A memorial service honoring his life will be held on Monday, September 9th at 11am at First Christian Church located at 220 S. Webster in Norman.
Tom was born on March 12, 1946 in Blackwell, OK to Tom Logan Knott III and Mary Olga (Masters) Knott. He was raised in Billings, OK and graduated from Billings High School with the class of 18 seniors in 1964. During his youth, he was proud to have completed his Eagle Scout ranking. After graduation, Tom spent some time working in the Billings and Perry area before he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country from 1968 until 1975 when he was honorably discharged. During his time in the Air Force, he served overseas in both Turkey and Japan. After serving in the military he went to Oklahoma State University where he completed his degree in education. Proudly an OSU Cowboy even though he eventually lived in Norman. Tom was a high school history teacher for the Olive Public Schools in Drumright, OK for a short time before going to work for the oil field service company, Dowell. He worked in many capacities and locations for almost two decades. After his time with Dowell, he worked nine years in sales and service for Flowboy Manufacturing in Norman before partnering with a friend in 2006 to open their own business, Asphalt Belting Service, where he worked until his passing.
In 1987, Tom was introduced by a friend to Jana Leigh Blair, and the two maintained a long-distance relationship for many years until Tom moved to Norman and the two were married in 2001. Tom became a member of Jana’s large family where he was welcomed and loved.
Tom was known as being an extremely patriotic man. He held great esteem for any veteran and in 2006 began volunteering as a claims writer for Veteran’s Corner Inc., where he made many great and lasting friendships. He was also a proud member of VFW Post 4890 where he was currently serving as Quartermaster. He was an active member and former deacon of First Christian Church in Norman.
Tom was a man of many interests but some of his favorites included studying military history, gardening, growing roses, traveling with Jana and his pet dachshunds. He will be remembered as a humorous, wonderful man, willing to help any neighbor or friend and had a laugh that was recognizable anywhere. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Buchanan; and brothers: Micheal Knott and Roger Knott.
He is survived by his wife, Jana Knott; daughter, Amy Knott; step-daughter: Dena Phillips; step-son: Travis Kime; nieces: Heather Frable and Alicia Malget; nephews: Mike Knott and Greg Buchanan; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
