Velta Mae McKinney, 90, passed away on June 1, 2018. Velta was born on May 11, 1928 in Billings, OK to Edgar Thornton and Elsie Irene (Foster) Taylor. Velta attended the Christian Church in Jones, OK in her early years. She enjoyed square dancing, sewing, crocheting, and knitting in her spare time. Every Christmas, she would give everyone house shoes that she had knitted throughout the year. Velta was a great cook who was known for making her homemade rolls. She kept a large garden at her home where she grew many varieties of vegetables. Velta is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry McKinney; granddaughter, Kelsey Evans, and 3 siblings. Survivors include her children, Lewis Butler and Velta Kay Vanhorn; grandchildren, Jeannie Evans, Stephen Butler, Gregory Butler, Kevin Butler, Natalie Butler, and Alexis Vanhorn great-grandson, Trent Evans; and numerous other friends and family members who will miss her dearly. A visitation will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bill Eisnehour Northeast Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Bill Eisnehour Northeast Chapel with interment to follow at Jones I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
