

Vera Grider-Williams, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026. She leaves behind a legacy defined by her sharp wit, her dedication to her community, and a lifetime of stories that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Born on July 14, 1939, in Swan Lake, Oklahoma, to John and Lorene White, Vera grew up with a strong sense of roots and responsibility. A proud graduate of the Class of 1958 at Oney High School in Albert, Oklahoma, she went on to build a respected career in public service. Vera dedicated many years of hard work to the Oklahoma County Assessor’s office, serving her community faithfully until her well-earned retirement.
Vera was a woman who knew the value of a life well-lived. Upon retiring, she embraced the tranquility of the outdoors, spending much of her time fishing and camping alongside her husband, Roy Williams. Whether she was by the water or sharing a laugh with family, Vera was known for her presence she was always there for those who needed her, ensuring those around her were cared for.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Lorene White; her first husband, Bernard Grider; her second husband, Roy Williams; her sister and brother in law Wanda & Cj Horn; her brothers, James White, Johnny White & wife Lorraine White, sister in law Vanda White & niece Natalie Craddock, Brother in law Rod Brooks and niece, Amy Brooks.
Vera’s memory will be kept alive by her surviving siblings: sisters Wilma Clay of Yukon, Fran Brooks of Oklahoma City, and Becky Brown of Forest, Virginia; and brothers Alton White of Amber, Oklahoma, and Everett White of Ninnekah, Oklahoma. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of extended family and dear friends.
Vera was a woman of character—sometimes complicated, always unforgettable, and deeply loved. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 7720 South Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73159, US, on May 7, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services, 7720 South Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73159, US, on May 8, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm with burial to follow at Resthaven Cemetery, 500 SW 104th St, Oklahoma City, OK 73139.
