William “Al” Alfred Weigel, Jr., of McLoud, Oklahoma passed away January 29, 2025. Al was born in Sumter, South Carolina to William “Bill” Alfred and Frances Hazel (Sykes) Weigel on November 11, 1956.
As a young kid, he lived in Japan and Guam and spent his teenage years in Midwest City, Oklahoma. attending high school at Star Spencer High School. In 1982, he moved to Guthrie where he lived for over 30 years until moving to his home in McLoud in 2015.
In Al’s spare time, he enjoyed being with his grandson Shaun working on cars, playing with his dogs Kaos and Mayheim, raising chickens and doing yardwork and gardening. Al was a free spirit who loved going for rides on his Harley while he had his bike. Whether it was hunting or fishing – he just loved being outdoors.
Al taught his kids what it meant to finish what you started, instilled a strong work ethic and how tinkering with things was a good way to learn the mechanics of things. He also showed them how to love hard, make memories, the love of animals and the outdoors.
You could definitely say that Al was a hard-working, honorable man who was dedicated to a fault. He was a good prankster, jokester and storyteller. But above all of these, he was the greatest father, Pops and fierce protector of those around him.
For 30 years he was behind the camera at Gordon Dinsmore Studios as a professional photographer until he hung it up in the mid-2000s to try something new. Al retired in 2021 after being a car salesman for the last 15 years. To fill his time he was a volunteer firefighter and chief, worked at Tractor Supply and Hobby Lobby.
From Al and Wanda’s marriage came two beautiful children, Jeremy and Tiffany but after 40 years they decided they were better as friends and they still had a deep love for one another.
Al was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Debbie Jennings and Kim Barnhardt.
He leaves to carry on his memory his children Jeremy Weigel of Guthrie, OK and Tiffany Wilhite and husband Kevin of Yukon, OK; brother Michael Weigel and wife Melissa of Ardmore, OK; mother of his children Wanda Weigel; two grandchildren Shaun Cobb and Lane Wilhite; seven nieces and one nephew; and his faithful companions, Kaos and Mayheim.
The family wishes to thank the bystanders and first responders on the scene as well as the ER staff who cared for Al.
There will be a viewing on Friday, February 7, 2025 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home with the family receiving friends from 5 pm to 7 pm. The next day, Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 2 pm, there will be a celebration of Al’s life at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with wake at Tiffany’s house immediately following.
