

After graduating from Leland High School in 1976, Bill joined his twin brother, Bob Dodd, and best friend, Larry Mabus by enlisting in the United States Navy. Bill spent 22 years serving his country as part of the Navy Seabees where he achieved the rank of E-6 electrician. Bill was awarded numerous honors including: 3 Navy Achievement Medals, Seabee Combat Warfare Pin, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and Navy Reserve Meritorious Service Award.
Bill grew up in the Mississippi Delta, moved to Arkansas in 1996, then retired and moved to Oklahoma in 2020. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, Mississippi football, attending Life Church, and listening to 70s music. Bill loved to reminisce, joke with his friends, and spend time with his grandchildren.
On April 10, 1982, Bill married Sheila Mobley Dodd and celebrated 40 years together. Bill and Sheila welcomed their son, Robert Douglas Dodd in 1983. Bill deeply loved his family, friends, the Navy Seabees, his two grandsons and will be dearly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman R. Dodd and Grace V. Dodd; brothers, Charles P. Dodd and James (Jimmy) N. Dodd; sisters, Sarah L. Grantham and Mary Eleanor Wuensch; and nephews, Michael E. Wuensch and Sherman E. James.
Bill is survived by his spouse, Sheila Dodd; son, Robert D. Dodd and wife, Jessica of Edmond, OK; brother, Robert (Bob) R. Dodd and wife, Nancy of Greenwood, AR; sisters, Winiford (Winnie) James of Tavares, FL and Cam Hunt of Brandon, MS. He also leaves behind grandsons, Elliot J. Dodd and Julian C. Dodd and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins to cherish his memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
