He received his Associates Degree from Oklahoma City Southwestern College (SCU) in 1974 before attending OU from 1975-1976. After leaving school he began working in the banking and mortgage industry, rising to the rank of VP. He eventually felt the call to the ministry, becoming Minister at Faith and Victory Church, where he served until his retirement.
As a hobby, he enjoyed collecting Vintage glassware. His other passion was raising and breeding exotic guinea pigs, showing them all over the country.
He will be remembered as a very loving and kind man. He loved people and would do whatever he could to make life a little easier for others.
Rusty is preceded in death by his parents, his wife JoAnn Gilbert Plumbtree, brother Jerry Wayne Plumbtree, nephews Joe Jenner, Joshua Plumbtree, Rudy Sanchez, Jr., and niece Danielle Aleene Plumbtree.
He is survived by his sister Carolyn Scovill, husband Jerry, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and many other family and friends.
A visitation for Rusty will be held Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73162. A funeral service in honor of Rusty's life will be held December 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
