

Bernard “Bernie”. Mulcahy, 86, of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, June 21, 2013. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he met.
Bernie was born on November 19, 1926 in Grand Prairie, Texas to Thomas and Helen (Carpenter) Mulcahy. He attended and graduated as the first graduating class from Bishop Lillis High School. After graduation he attended St Benedict College and soon found other interests. Bernie started working as an Insurance salesman for Allstate Insurance Company. After several positions in sales, In 1968 he started his career with Yellow Fright Company. After several years of dedicated service he retired to enjoy the finer things in life. Bernie enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing. You could always find him every morning at the 56th Street Restaurant in Olathe. Bernie was a dedicated member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. The two most important days in his life were St. Patrick’s Day and the opening day of Quail season. Bernie never met a stranger, and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.
Bernie is preceded in death by his parents: Thomas and Helen Mulcahy, his loving wife of 57 years, Anna M. Mulcahy who passed away in January of 2012, one brother: Dennis (Denny) Mulcahy and one sister: Imelda Mulcahy. Survivors include his children: two sons, Gary S. Mulcahy of Parker, Kansas, Larry M. Mulcahy of Olathe, Kansas and daughter, Terri B. Gregorie and her husband Kenny of Cleveland, Missouri. Left behind to cherish his memory is his granddaughter, Michelle Smith and her husband Kevin. Bernie is also survived by three great grandchildren, Payton Smith, Laine Meyer and Boden Smith, brother: Frank Mulcahy and his wife Joy along with several nieces and nephews who will miss their “Uncle Bo” dearly.
Mass of Christian burial will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at Prince Of Peace Catholic Church 16000 W. 143rd St. Olathe, KS. Interment in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery 8321 Quivera Lenexa, KS. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. to conclude the visitation.
