She was born in rural Shambaugh, Iowa, to Ralph Courtney Williams and Ora Leone (Eshelman) Williams on Jan. 13, 1932. She was raised in areas around Shambaugh, specifically in Clarinda, Iowa, where she went to school and met the love of her life Leland C Jones.
They married and moved to New Port, Rhode Island, where they had their first born. They lived the Navy service life for four years and then continued their journey moving back to the Midwest and having four additional children, one who passed away after birth but who now Beverly is holding, little Pamela in heaven. They moved back to Iowa and then to Kansas where the family was raised.
After being a stay-at-home wife, mother and domestic housekeeper, Beverly worked at Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant near De Soto from 1964 until the early 1970s. She worked as a clerk at the Johnson County Courthouse in Olathe for a few years until she found her career at North Supply Company in Gardner. She worked in many departments at North Supply until transferring to the personnel/HR department, where she advanced to be the building manager and one of the first women to hold a major position with the company and she did it without a college education.
Beverly was a charter member of John and Hattie Possum Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution beginning in 2013. She was a member of the Pleasant Hour Club and the De Soto VFW 6654 Auxiliary, and the De Soto United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women for many years. She volunteered at the De Soto Starside Elementary School's Media Center for seven years helping reshelve books, at the VA Hospital, at the De Soto Food Pantry and for the American Cancer Society. She always was willing to step up and help in any way possible.
After retirement Leland and Beverly became Texas Snowbirds making their part-time home at Harlingen, Texas. They enjoyed their life down there by spending time with many friends going out to eat, listening to music, finding garage sales, traveling to Mexico and playing bingo. Her beloved dachshund Holly was able to enjoy this life with them and kept Beverly and Leland company until she passed away last year. Beverly loved spending time quilting, reading, gardening and her family. Beverly will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
