

Charles Fayette Ward Jr, 73, of Olathe, Kansas passed away at home on Friday, May 5, 2017. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he met. Charley was born on May 29, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Charles Fayette Sr. and Pauline Mae (Mallonee) Ward. He attended and graduated from Pratt High School in 1962. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966 on a merchant ship.
Charley is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Pauline Ward. He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Sandra K. Morrison~Ward of the home, one son, Robert Charles Ward and his wife Sunny of Kansas City, Missouri, three daughters, Sandy Clark of Edgerton, Kansas, Jennifer Salas and her husband Ben of Springhill, Florida and Andrea Gaines of St. Pete Beach, Florida. Left behind to cherish his memory are his five grandsons, Corey Ward and Nicholas Clark, Adam Salas, Zachary Gaines and Jacob Gaines. Charley is also survived by his three sisters, Pauline (Polly) Johnson, Charlotte Raymer and her husband Ron of Burlington, Kansas. Patricia (Patty) Spensley of Bloomington, Indiana, one brother, Kenneth (Kenny) Ward and his wife Judi of Columbus, Nebraska and the mother of his son, Robert who were married for 26 years, Connie L. (Cook) Ward.
Charley was an avid HO model railroader, collector of pocket watches as far back as his Great Grandfather, and clown figurines for he had a love of Clem Kadiddlehopper a character on Red Skelton Show. For ten years he was a supervising judge for Johnson County Elections. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Elks.
Charley will be cremated according to his wishes. A “Celebration Of Life” is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday morning, May 13th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In conclusion of the service Charley will be honored with Military Honors for his dedicated service in the U.S. Navy. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: American Heart Association and American Diabetes Society.
