Consuelo "Connie" Reyes de Garcia

She will forever be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone she met. Connie was born on April 5,1930 in Courtney, Missouri to Ysidoro and Luisa (Fausto) Reyes.

Connie is preceded in death by her husband Damian Garcia Sr. who passed away on November 20, 2006, her parents Ysidoro and Luisa Reyes, four brothers Antonio “Tony” Reyes, Angelo Reyes, Thomas “Tommy” Reyes and Lewis “Louie” Reyes, two sisters Aurora Straggi and Virginia Sanchez.

Survivors include her seven children: Damian Garcia Jr. and his wife Cathy, of Overland Park, Kansas, Arthur Garcia and his wife Dina of Kansas City, Missouri, Esther Carrillo and her husband Phil of Roeland Park, Kansas, Louis Garcia of Overland Park, Kansas, Ted Garcia of Overland Park, Kansas, Connie Ann Salazar and her husband Michael of Mission, Kansas and Daniel Garcia of the Kansas City area. Left behind to cherish her memory are her twenty grandchildren: Mona Garcia, Arthur Garcia Jr., Rachel Slobodzian (Larry), Mia McClanahan (Brandon), Mike Garcia, Theresa Carrillo, Vince Garcia (Rena), Bonnie Kerr (Brady), Gabe Garcia (Alisha), Liz Garcia, Damian Garcia III, Michael Phillip Carrillo, Michael Steven Salazar (Celia), Jeremiah Salazar (Brianna), Matt Carrillo, Joey Garcia (Jessica), Erica Garcia, Taylor Garcia, Thomas Garcia and Violet Sophia Garcia. She will be sadly missed by her twenty four great grandchildren: Karysa, Paul Jr., Adrian, Thalia, Jude, Payton, Jacob, Bryce, Andrew, Derrick, Serena, Grace, Bradyn, Collin, Jaxon, Adrianna, Ava, Gabe Jr., Aaliyah, Ysabella, Elijah, Eva, Bryson and Myla and one great great granddaughter Zariah. Connie is also survived by her two brothers Faustino “Chick” Reyes, Isaac Reyes, two sisters Florence Brisbin and Dolores Reyes. The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Mona, Rachel and Mia for the outstanding love and care that they provided to their grandmother.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 6, 2014 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home, 105 E. Loula Street, Olathe, Kansas. Interment in Leavenworth National Cemetery Leavenworth, Kansas. Visitation will be 3:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the funeral home and 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday, September 6 prior to the service at the funeral home.
