David Bernard Langdon, 78, of El Paso,Texas formally of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 23, 2023. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and friend to everyone he knew.
David was born on July 24,1945 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Bernard J. and Rose (Kost) Langdon. He attended and graduated from Olathe High School. After graduation, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in History Education through the University of Kansas. David was employed with AT&T. He worked as an executive for 25 years traveling to different major cities in the United States before leaving in 1982. He met the love of his life Julie. They were married in Las Vegas on October 7, 1988. Together they owned and operated a Health Food Store named, Emerald Forest. David enjoyed gardening and crossword puzzles. He enjoyed watching KU Basketball and the Kansas City Chiefs. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. Nothing gave him more pleasure in life than the time he spent with his grandchildren
His parents, his daughter Katie Walker and his two sons Bradley Walker and Jon Langdon, precede David in death. David is survived by his wife of 35 years Julie Langdon and his son Max Langdon of the home, three daughters Vickie Wood and her husband Pete of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Kathy Menelly and her husband Anthony of San Antonio,Texas, Jillian Langdon of Steamboat Springs, Colorado and son Nick Langdon of Washington State. Left behind to cherish his memory are his seven grandchildren. David is also survived by his two pet companions, “Poncho” and “Brandy”. He will be sadly missed.
David was cremated according to his wishes. A Memorial Service honoring the life of David Bernard Langdon will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home.105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. Inurnment immediately following the service in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens 13901 South Black Bob Road Olathe, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions honoring “David Bernard Langdon” may be made to, Great Plains SPCA 5424 Antioch Drive Merriam, Kansas 66202.
