

Our beloved Edward A. Wake passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016. He was born on July 23, 1956 to the late Guy and Patricia (Haase) Wake. He was 60 years old. On December 30, 1989, he married Dawn Drury (Tiehen) from Olathe, Kansas. They were married in Desoto, Kansas and have resided in Olathe for the duration of their marriage.
Previously, he was married to Jill Kholmyer of Warrensburg, Missouri. They have a son, Justin, 35, currently living in Fort Meyers, Florida. Justin is married to Jennifer, and they have four children; Mya 15, William 13, Trinity 10, and Elizabeth (Izzy) 8. Dawn has two children from a previous marriage; Josh Drury, 35, residing in Vancouver, Washington, and Erin Boston, 33, married to Gary. They currently reside in Gardner, Kansas and have two children, Kameron and Quinn, 11 and 11 months respectively.
Edward is survived by his sister Debbie, 56, and her husband Mike Martin of Independence, Missouri, and their three children: Michael Jr., Jason, and Misty. He is also survived by his sister Terri Lynn, 47, and her husband Jeff Cook of Blue Springs, Missouri. They have two children, Jacob and Brayden. He will also be remembered by his late brother Randy’s children Guy, Jennifer, and Heather.
As a child, Edward lived in DeSoto, Kansas and after a temporary move to California, returned to Kansas and remained.
Edward served in the US Navy from 1974-1977, and was stationed in San Diego, California. He was honorably discharged. Edward enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and golfing with his dear friends Vance, Dave, and the late Tom. Dawn and Edward also loved to fish, canoe, and camp. Edward was employed at Power House Electric since 1994. He was an electrical engineer, and was very proud of his ability to design and install system integration programs for anything that was presented to him.
Edward will be cremated according to his wishes. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 4th at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home 105 East Loula St. Olathe, Kansas. There will be a private family viewing from 4-6p.m. Wednesday afternoon prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at a later date where he will be taken to the lake house in Linn Valley, Kansas that he and Dawn were working on for their retirement.
