February 3, 1962 – March 5, 2025
Fredrick Luis Magdaleno, 63, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away on March 5, 2025.
Born on February 3, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri, Fred was one of five children and a proud student of Shawnee Mission North High School. In his younger years, he made his mark in the boxing world as a three-time Kansas City Golden Gloves Champion from 1978 to 1980—a title he carried with pride.
Though Fred never married or had children of his own, he was deeply devoted to his family. He was the kind of brother and uncle who showed up—not just for holidays, but for everyday moments. He was known for his thoughtfulness, often calling to check in and making sure everyone was doing okay. His nieces and nephews adoringly called him "Yayyy Hayy Uncleeee FRRREDDD." They will all especially remember his playful spirit—always ready for a game of cards, a basketball match at the park, or a spontaneous walk to QuikTrip for a candy bar and a laugh.
Fred had a deep love for music, often filling his days with the sounds of his favorite tunes. Whether it was classic rock and roll or heartfelt gospel, music was his way of connecting with the world. His faith was also a central part of his life. Fred found great comfort and community in the church, and he rarely missed a service.
Fred is preceded in death by his father, Jesse Magdaleno Jr., and his brother, Jesse Magdaleno III. He is survived by his loving mother, Guadalupe Magdaleno; his sister Melinda Magdaleno; and brothers Paul and Tom Magdaleno. He also leaves behind nieces and nephews who adored him: Sarah Butler, Brooke Greve, Sierra Magdaleno, Brittney Hensley, Jolie Magdaleno, Tyler Shaffer, Lance Magdaleno, Cameron Magdaleno, and Austin Magdaleno.
Fred’s quiet loyalty, generous heart, sweet smile, and sense of fun will be missed more than words can say. His legacy will live on in the stories shared, the games played, the songs sung, and the faith he lived by.
