

Herbert Lewis Nickle passed into a better life June 11, 2012 surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 2:00-3:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home-Olathe. Masonic Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with burial in Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Stanley Kansas.
Herb was born on 1/29/31, son of Edna and Ezra Nickle. He was raised in Stanley, KS and lived in the Kansas City area until moving to Sunrise Beach, MO in the 1970’s. After retirement he returned to the Kansas City area to be near his family.
Herb graduated from Stanley Rural High School in 1941 then proudly served as a Marine in the Korean War. He spent his life in the construction business, retiring as a self employed remodeling contractor. Herb married Colleen Nickle in November 18, 1968, she preceded him in death 1999. He was also preceded in death by both parents and son, Randy Nickle.
Herb is survived by his sister Evelyn Louise Nickle, Kansas City, MO; daughters Lisa (Rusty) McKinney Berry, Berryton, KS; Cindy (Mike) Head, Kansas City, MO; stepdaughter Sharon (Jerry) Hendrix, Carmel, IN; stepsons Larry (Pam) Barnett, Overland Park, KS and Mike Barnett, grandchildren Anna Addington, Alyssa Arnone, Jon McKinney, Krista York and 2 great grandchildren.
Herb was an active member of the Masonic Temple #444, Stanley KS earning a 50 year service pin in 2005. He was also a member of Zach Wheat American Legion Post #624, Sunrise Beach, MO, serving in various local and state officer roles throughout the years.
