Jack Richard Irby, 92, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to everyone he knew.
Jack was born on June 22, 1931 in Wichita, Kansas to Glenn and Pauline (Packard) Irby. He attended and graduated from Wichita East High School. He attended Wichita State University prior to enlisting in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He met the love of his life Jessie Oleta Haney and they were married in 1956 in Wichita, Kansas.
Jack worked as an Electronics Technician for the Federal Aviation Agency. He enjoyed gardening, golfing and some traveling. After he retired, he delivered Meals on Wheels and involved himself with Seniors Serving School. He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge in Olathe, Kansas where he served as
Master. He enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals Baseball. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family and nothing gave him more pleasure in life than the time he spent with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents Glenn and Pauline Irby and his sister Karen Miller. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Jessie O. Irby of the home, son Jack Irby Jr. and his wife Mary of Olathe, Kansas and his daughter Julie C. Zee and her husband Wendell of Cary, North Carolina. Left behind to cherish his memory are his four granddaughters Sarah J. Irby, Skylar B. Fletcher (Matthew), Lisa M. Naude and Amber J. Zee. Four great grandchildren Vincent Naude, Lillian Naude, Charlotte Fletcher and Penelope Fletcher. Jack is also survived by his brother James G. Irby of Wichita, Kansas.
Jack will be cremated according to his wishes. A “Celebration of Life” honoring the life of Jack Richard Irby will take place at a later date.
