Mechanic from the Huhtamaki Plant in De Soto KS. Jim’s life as a devoted husband, stepfather
and grandfather began when he married his wife of 32 years, Magnolia Jean Banks-Harris on
September 19, 1981.
Magnolia preceded Jim in death in 2013 along with his two stepsons, Larry
Davis in 2009 and Michael Garlington in 2022.
He is survived by his stepdaughter, Karen Garlington-Madison, one grandson Noah Davis Sr, four granddaughters Tabitha Davis, Nicole Garlington-Peterson. Moriah Davis-Dewberry and Miranda Madison. He also leaves behind four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. As well as several extended family members and friends.
Jim became a dedicated witness of Jehovah in 1981. He was a member of the Chelsea Heights
Congregation in Kansas City KS. After Jim and Magnolia moved to Olathe, KS they both became
members of the Indian Creek Congregation.
Jim was a man of few words, but when he did speak, it was something of a profound nature.
Something you would treasure for the rest of your life. He was known for his wisdom, and
unique little known facts. But above all he was known to be a kind man who loved his family
especially the love of his life his wife Magnolia, whom he lovingly referred to as “Mag”. Jim
loved his God Jehovah, his family, country music, Mexican food, animals and road trips. Jim is
already missed by those who love him. And we look forward to seeing Jim and Mag in the
resurrection. John 5:28,29
