

Jimmy Dale O’Brien-Mixon, 56, of Olathe, Kansas passed away surrounded by his loving family at Kansas City Hospice House on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Jimmy was born on July 9, 1956 in Denver, Colorado, the son of Frances Ailene (Board) O’Brien.
Jimmy grew up in Newton, Kansas and attended The Special Purpose School at Prairie View. The family moved from Newton, Kansas to Olathe, Kansas in 1981. In Olathe, Jimmy attended St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church, and served as an usher there under Reverend Dr. Jethro Syrus, Sr. Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family and especially family reunions and visits from relatives. He was an avid fan of westerns, horses and Elvis.
Jimmy is preceded in death by: his parents Frances and Earl Mixon, and one sister: Mildred Mixon. Survivors include one brother: Marc Mixon of Olathe, Kansas and three sisters: Lorraine Mixon-Page and her husband Hugh of Columbia, Missouri, Laura Mixon of Davenport, Florida and Caroline Mixon-Klos and her husband John of Ijamsville , Maryland. Jimmy will be sadly missed by his two nieces: Chelsea Page and Piper Page both of Columbia, Missouri and one nephew: David Klos of Ijamsville, Maryland.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the McGilley & Frye Funeral Home. 105 East Loula Street Olathe, Kansas. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery Newton, Kansas.
