

Julio grew up in the city of Rochester, NY where he met his wife at the respective ages of 12 and 13 to which they remained together until his passing in her arms. He was raised playing the game of baseball along with the sport of boxing to which he earned the prestigious Golden Gloves award for the state of New York. A graduate of the Franklin High School class of 1980, Julio joined the military in 1986. He served for 9 years in the United States Air Force as a crew chief holding the rank of Sergeant E4 before retiring in 1995. Julio was a passionate caring individual who strongly believed in his faith, family, and God. Along with his quick wits, Julio loved to cook and entertain others while listening to his Spanish music, collect cards and comics, watch old westerns, and nap.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Diana Ortiz.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years Sadie Sanchez of Olathe, KS; daughters Sandia and Cherri Sanchez of Olathe, KS; and son Julio Sanchez of Smithville, MO. Grandchildren Marley Thomas and Rylee James of Olathe, KS; and sisters Raquel Sanchez and Sonia Quinones of Rochester, NY and Francis Sanchez of Kissimmee, FL along with all his beloved extended family.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 23rd to include a military service ceremony, a blessing of Julio’s life and the food along with a traditional Puerto Rican pig roast to which the family is known for at 16455 B Hwy Smithville MO 64089. Parts of the service will be live streamed on Facebook. Julio wished to be cremated and his ashes spread where his family felt most appropriate along with being combined with his surviving wife’s.
The family requests that flowers be sent to the celebration service address a few days prior to his celebration. Or in lieu of flowers and donations, a payment to your local charity be made in his name.
