Karl was born on December 15, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas to Betty and Carl Alpert. He was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church, Overland Park, Kansas and later confirmed in Christian faith on June 6, 1976 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Olathe, Kansas.
Karl’s family moved to Olathe in the winter of 1969 where he attended school and graduated from Olathe High School in 1980.
He loved International tractors and built quite a collection over the years. He enjoyed driving them in the Old Settler’s Day parades. In 1987, Karl purchased the farm from his grandparents, Herman and Clara Peckman, where he made his home. In addition to his tractor collection, Karl began raising cattle. He named each cow and loved and tended to them more like pets. He could be seen with a bucket calf in the back seat of his truck so that he could stop as needed to feed it.
Karl owned his own lawn service, “Custom Gardens and Lawns,” and later worked with his sister, Blinda, providing lawn care services for her company, “Bz Trees and Turf”. He was richly blessed, and left us way too soon.
Karl was preceded in death by his parents Carl Ray Alpert and Betty Ann (Peckman) Alpert. He is survived by his sister, Blinda Alpert of Gardner, Kansas.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 920 S. Alta Lane, Olathe, Kansas. Visitation begins at 10:00 a.m. with the service following at 11:00 a.m. Pastor David Kahle will officiate the service. There will be no graveside service. Inurnment of Karl’s ashes will be held privately at a later date in Johnson County Memorial Gardens next to his parents.
