

Kenneth Willard Peck, 90, died Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Lakeview Village, Lenexa, KS. He was born on September 7, 1927 in St. Joseph, MO. A celebration of his life will be held in the Treetops Room in the Southridge Building at Lakeview Village in Lenexa on Tuesday, November 28 at 10 AM. A reception will follow at Treetops. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Peck Family Scholarship Fund at Asbury United Methodist Church, Prairie Village, KS.
Ken graduated from Southeast High School in Kansas City, MO and graduated from University of Kansas with a Mechanical Engineering degree. Ken & Annette McEwen were married in 1950. Ken was a Navy veteran, eventually retiring from the Naval Reserve in 1966 as Lt. Commander. He worked for CJ Patterson and Interstate Bakeries in Kansas City, and Fuchs Bakery in Miami, FL. Ken retired in 1993. In retirement, he and Annette moved to Apopka, FL to be near their orange groves / Christmas tree farms. In later years, they became snowbirds, commuting between Apopka & Overland Park, before eventually settling at Lakeview Village in Lenexa.
Ken was an accomplished private pilot, amassing over 2600 hours in a variety of private aircraft. He had instrument, multi-engine, commercial, and seaplane licenses. He built an RV-12 kit plane in his garage in Overland Park. He waterskied, square danced, was a part-time pecan farmer, a part-time orange grove farmer, a part-time Christmas tree farmer and a wonderful dad.
He is survived by son Roger (Kim) and daughter Diane Neibling (Dwight), both of Overland Park, KS. He is preceded in death by his mother Lelma Mae Peck (Yost), father Kenneth Davison Peck, and Annette Louise Peck (McEwen), his wife of 63 years. Ken leaves 4 grandchildren (Belinda Neibling, Paul Neibling, Sara Kazmierczak, and Colin Peck) and 1 great grandson (Parker).
