Lela Elaine Striker, 100, of Olathe, Kansas passed away on Friday, September 6, 2024. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, and friend to those who knew her.
Lela was born on October 24, 1923 in Davenport, Nebraska to Harry and Cecil Due. She attended and graduated from Edgar High School in Edgar, Nebraska. Soon after, she met Jack Eugene Striker and they were married on December 14, 1943. Together they raised two sons, Larry and Jerry, and two daughters, Diane and Dixie.
As well as mother and housewife, Lela worked outside the home at several jobs, including positions at King Radio and Deluxe Checks. Lela enjoyed spending time with family, including grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She enjoyed travelling, and even in her latter days enjoyed car trips of various lengths just to see the countryside. At home she kept herself busy with several forms of needlecraft, including embroidery, plastic canvas, and crochet. She was also a football fan supporting her favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs, especially during the Joe Montana years.
Lela is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Cecil Due, husband Jack Striker, who passed on October 6, 2000, brother Elmer Due, sister-in-law Dorothy Due, sister Ethel Yorniff, brother-in-law Sam Yorniff, sons Larry and Jerry Striker, daughter Diane Prevett, sons-in-law Dean Jensen, Larry Prevett, Richard Giger, and granddaughter Patsy Jensen.
She is survived by her daughter Dixie Giger, daughter-in-law Jacque Striker, daughter-in-law Diana Wilhelms , grandchildren Cindy Fisher, Jack Jensen, Wendy Ditmer, Jerry Prevett, Lela Prevett, Tim Giger, Kevin Giger, Tracy Striker, Stacy Brawley, and Larry Don Striker. Also left behind are 20 great grandchildren and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Lela will be cremated according to her wishes. A family graveside service will take place on October 5, 2024 at Urbauer-Williams Funeral Home and Cemetery, 219 North C Street, Edgar, Nebraska
