on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. He will forever be remembered as a devoted
husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend
to everyone he knew.
Leonard was born on June 12, 1940, in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania to Harry
Leonard and Alberta Joan (Biagini) Bindi. He attended and graduated from
William Chrisman High School in Independence, Missouri. He served his country
honorably in the U.S. Navy. He married the love of his life Janet Kay Hinde on July
31, 1970. Together they raised their four children Deborah, Kimberly, David and
Charity.
Leonard worked as a fork lift operator for Marley Cooling Tower Corporation. He
was a family man who enjoys gardening, swimming, watching football and
spending time with his family. Nothing gave him more pleasure in life than the
time he spent with his family. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and his
faithful companion “Phoebe Josephine”.
Leonard is preceded in death by his parents Harry and Alberta Bindi. He is
survived by his loving wife of 50 years Janet Kay Bindi of the home, three
daughters Deborah (Debbie) Christine Butts and her husband Dewayne of
Thomasville, Georgia, Kimberly (Kim) Underwood and her husband Timothy of
Paola, Kansas, Charity Faith Bindi of the home and one son David Matthew Bindi
and his wife Wendy of Louisburg, Kansas. Left behind to cherish his memory are
his ten grandchildren and their spouses Brandon (Sheril) Tabor, Lucas Bindi,
Jessica (Ryan) Lopez, Jamie Bindi, Aaron Tabor, Tyler Wisehour, David Bindi II,
Jacob Howard, Hunter Bindi, Cecelia Bindi, and one great grandson Colt Lopez.
Leonard is also survived by his brother Vince Bindi and his wife Suzie of
Capistrano, California and his sister Carole Lindsey of Liberty, Missouri.
A “Celebration of Life” for family and close friends will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 26620 Somerset Road Paola, Kansas 66071. Inurnment in Leavenworth National Cemetery 150 Muncie Road Leavenworth, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude.
